Hey, hey!
This has been a lonnnggggg year! There is so much going on that it's hard to stay focused and see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have been having a hard time adjusting to our new normal with three kids under three and running a business. I love my kids but let's be honest, keeping them home 24/7 while social distancing is a lot for any person. I was literally forced to find ways to stay sane and I failed miserably. It took me months to figure this new normal out and find some balance but, I think I finally have it down now. Here are 7 ways to help balance having children, working, and maintaining a somewhat normal lifestyle in 2020.Â
1. Detox
Detox your body, mind, and soul. Limit your time spent on social media. Social media plays a very large role in your mental stability and sometimes you just need to turn it off. Instead of watching TikTok videos and IG stories, go sit outside for an hour and listen to natural.Â
You can also detox your body with detox tea. My absolute favorite detox tea is by a black owned company called Tava. Their products are plant based and actually work. I highly recommend this tea. Click here to try it out.Â
2. Meditate
While you're outside listening to nature, use that time to meditate. Benefits of meditating include: connecting better, reducing brain chatter, reducing stress levels, and focusing more.Â
3. Exercise
Exercising is another great way help gain back a healthy lifestyle. Find a jump rope, join a Facebook Community Group, and join a challenge. Losing weight is always a good thing, especially after you have had 3 kids in 3 years lol.Â
4. Journal
Now I have never been much of a writer, but I have found that writing in a journal has been very good in helping me take time for myself and reflect on everything going on in my life. Sometimes I can't figure out what to write but I have found that writing prompts help tremendously. Here are 7 FREE daily writing prompts to get you started.Â
5. Catch up with a friend
Since we had to quarantine and still have to social distance, catching up with a friend is one of the easier tasks to do. Essentially, everything is virtual. Set a weekly Zoom meeting or weekly Facetime call with your circles just to check in on one another. One call goes a very long way at times like this. You'd be surprised at the way people's live have changed in these past 7 months.Â
6. Get dressed
Now this one is hard, but I promise it'll be worth it. Even though it is easy to lay around the house in pajamas all day, get up and put on clothes. Yes, get dressed! Even if you have no where to go, keep the habit of getting dressed to make you feel better about the day ahead. Clothes has a way of changing our minds and attitudes almost instantaneously. This leads to my last tip, creating a routine.
7. Create a routine
I don't care what your friends are doing, you need a routine. Having a routine is one of the best way to stay on task, keep yourself accountable, and making you feel like life is normal. Even though many people are working from home now, you still need to set your alarm clock, get up on time, make coffee, set at your desk, and work like it's a normal day. This is the key to normalcy no matter the circumstances.
